While a supportive mattress can help you get a good night’s sleep, so can a pair of crisp sheets — and at a much lower cost. Whether your goal is to stay cool or invest in organic cotton, I’ve found the best bedsheets if you’re ready to upgrade your bedding.

Drawing on years of expertise testing and reviewing sleep essentials, I’ve curated a list of top-performing sheets across every category. Whether you prefer the crispness of percale, the silky smoothness of sateen or the breezy texture of linen, you’ll find the perfect match right here.

For those who want to revamp their entire bedding setup, check out our favorite comforters and the best pillows for every sleeping position. Don’t forget that it all starts with a good bed.

What are the best sheets overall?

Two main pillars make a good sheet: being comfortable and breathable. The L.L. Bean Pima Cotton Percale sheet set is a shining example of both. That’s why they’re my pick for best sheets overall.

They’re classically comfortable with a crisp cotton feel that doesn’t trap heat while you’re sleeping. The L.L. Bean Percale sheets are a safe and dependable option for people who like cotton sheets and will last for years. They aren’t the cheapest option at $199 for a queen set, but I think they’re worth the investment, so much so that I’ve bought multiple sets.

Our take: The L.L. Bean Pima Cotton Percale sheet set is, without a doubt, my favorite sheet set that I’ve slept on. They’re classic cotton sheets that promise comfort and deliver on it and more.

How it sleeps: If you’re looking for a no-fuss, dependable sheet set that you can keep for years, look no further than the L.L. Bean Pima Cotton Percale Sheet set. They’re made from 100% Pima cotton, known to be softer and more durable, thanks to the extra-long fibers. They’re also incredibly breathable, and it never feels like any of my heat is getting trapped while I sleep. These sheets are the epitome of a classic cotton sheet that melts into the background of your sleep.

I’ve been using these sheets for over three years, and I can honestly say they get softer with every wash. I have two sets of L.L. Bean’s Pima Cotton sheets in fun, nature-inspired prints. I don’t often get printed sheets, but these were too fun to pass up. These sheets are available in solid colors, and check print if that’s more your speed.

Our take:If you love the silky, buttery feel of sateen sheets while you sleep, you’ll like the Luxome Luxury sheet set. They’re the epitome of smoothness.

How it sleeps: The Luxome Luxury sheet set is what comes to mind when I think of sateen sheets. They’re super smooth and have a sateen weave that makes them very breathable. They’re on the thinner side of some sheets we tested, but I think that is a bonus for some hot sleepers. These sheets are made from 100% pure viscose from bamboo, which is supposed to make them naturally moisture-wicking. I didn’t feel my body heat trapped while testing.

The Luxome Luxury sheets are the best sheets on Amazon because of their quality, price point and color availability. They also have a thick elastic band with straps that make sure the fitted sheet stays in place all night.

Our take: Made from 100% Supima cotton, the Buffy Supima cotton sheet set has a soft feel that I really liked. They have the cotton sheet charm that most people will find comfortable.

How it sleeps: This far into the review, you probably know that I’m a sucker for a cotton sheet. I love the crisp feeling that melts into my bedding at night. The Buffy Supima cotton sheet set is one of the best examples of it.

These sheets are made from Supima cotton, which is more luxurious than other cotton because it’s an extra-long staple fiber. The length of the fiber translates to how smooth the sheet’s surface is. The longer the fiber, the smoother it is. This holds true for the Buffy cotton sheet set. They’re incredibly smooth without being so dense that the sheet traps your body heat. The Buffy Supima cotton sheet set is perfect for people who want an upgraded cotton feel.

I also tested the Buffy Breeze sheet set, which was also super soft, though they had an almost buttery feel. They’re a better option for people who want a silkier feel at night.

Our take:These super soft sheets from Sleep Number are designed to absorb excess heat so you don’t get sweaty when you sleep. They’re easily the top choice for hot sleepers.

How it sleeps: The Sleep Number True Temp sheet set has been a long-time favorite of mine. They’re super soft and have a breathable cotton-like feel that most people like. They have a hint of the sateen feel when you touch them, but they’re still more on the classic sheet side.

These True Temp sheets aren’t actively cooling, but they have what Sleep Number calls 37.5 Technology, which absorbs excess heat from you. I found these sheets to live up to the hype. They’re one of my partner’s favorite sheet sets because he’s a hot sleeper, and they keep him cool. Another huge benefit of the Sleep Number True Temp sheets is that they have deep pockets, labels and thick anchor straps that make putting them on a breeze. I’ve been sleeping with these sheets for years, and they’ve never pulled off my bed at night.

Our take:If you like the feel of linen sheets, you’ll love the thick and luxurious feel of the Baloo Stonewashed Linen sheets. I could tell they were made to last the second I tried them, and because of that, they’re my top choice for the best linen sheets you can buy.

How it sleeps: Linen sheets are known for their breathability and durability. Both were immediately apparent when I started testing the Baloo Stonewashed Linen sheets. Some linen sheets can be thin and scratchy, but not these sheets. They’re thicker than normal sheets, which gives them a luxurious feel. Despite their thickness, I never felt like I was getting too hot while sleeping. I’ve had them for months, and they get softer with every wash.

If you care about eco-friendly manufacturing processes, you’ll like these stonewashed linen sheets even more. They’re made with natural fibers that are 100% natural and chemical-free. The sheets ship with plastic-free packaging.
