How it sleeps: The Luxome Luxury sheet set is what comes to mind when I think of sateen sheets. They’re super smooth and have a sateen weave that makes them very breathable. They’re on the thinner side of some sheets we tested, but I think that is a bonus for some hot sleepers. These sheets are made from 100% pure viscose from bamboo, which is supposed to make them naturally moisture-wicking. I didn’t feel my body heat trapped while testing.
The Luxome Luxury sheets are the best sheets on Amazon because of their quality, price point and color availability. They also have a thick elastic band with straps that make sure the fitted sheet stays in place all night.

Our take:These super soft sheets from Sleep Number are designed to absorb excess heat so you don’t get sweaty when you sleep. They’re easily the top choice for hot sleepers.
How it sleeps: The Sleep Number True Temp sheet set has been a long-time favorite of mine. They’re super soft and have a breathable cotton-like feel that most people like. They have a hint of the sateen feel when you touch them, but they’re still more on the classic sheet side.
These True Temp sheets aren’t actively cooling, but they have what Sleep Number calls 37.5 Technology, which absorbs excess heat from you. I found these sheets to live up to the hype. They’re one of my partner’s favorite sheet sets because he’s a hot sleeper, and they keep him cool. Our take: The Brooklinen Luxe sheet set is my favorite sateen sheet set I tested. They’re sturdy and smooth, without feeling like I’ll slip off the bed. I’d recommend them for sateen lovers and those new to that feel.
How it sleeps: Sateen refers to the type of weaving the sheets are made with, typically a three- or four-over, one-under weave. This leaves the sheets with a soft finish. Admittedly, sateen sheets aren’t my favorite. Some of them can be quite thin and slippery, which means my blanket can fall off the side of the bed at night. The Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core sheet set surprised me. These sateen sheets weren’t the silkiest I tried, but that actually made me like them more. They balance the smooth sateen feel with the comfort I associate with classic sheets.
The Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core sheet set is made with 100% long staple cotton and is OEKO-TEX certified. I found them to be incredibly comfortable, and I was happy with the quality for that $189 price tag for a queen. Anyone can happily sleep on these sheets all year. Our take:If your main driver for deciding what sheets you want to buy is how soft they are, you’ll like the Casper Supersoft sheet set. They’re on my bed right now and trust me, they’re the softest sheets out there.
How it sleeps: Every sheet set I’ve come across is marketed as soft, so I was ready to be underwhelmed when I tried the Casper Supersoft sheets. My interest was piqued because Supersoft is in the name, but I expected them to feel like any other sheet. Dear reader, I was wrong. The Casper Supersoft sheets are so incredibly soft that I literally stopped when I was putting them on my bed to note the texture.
They’re noticeably softer than other sheets because they’re made with 100% organic brushed cotton. As you can imagine, I’ve tested a lot of sheets for this list, which meant comparing them to each other. The Casper Supersoft sheets were a night and day difference when it comes to softness. Plenty of the other sheets were soft and comfortable, but the brushed cotton gives it a superior level of softness that other sheets just don’t meet.
They’re also only $139 for a queen set. While that’s not what I would consider cheap, the Casper Supersoft sheets are on the more affordable side of this best sheets list.

Our take:Bamboo sheets are known for being hypoallergenic, antibacterial and antimicrobial. They’re also strong without sacrificing comfort. That perfectly describes the Honeydew sheet set.
How it sleeps: The Honeydew sheet set is made from 100% organic bamboo and is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, which means they were made without harmful substances. When I first opened the Honeydew sheet box, I could tell that they were made with care. Right on top was a care slip that details exactly how to care for the sheets (warm machine wash, low tumble dry). I was even more pleased when I took them out and found them to be incredibly soft. They’re a little thinner than other sheets on the list, though bamboo sheets are supposed to be stronger than most, so I can’t say the thickness takes away from anything.
These sheets also have straps on the fitted sheet to ensure it stays in place all night. It’s not a requirement for a good sheet, but I always like to see it added. I really like the Honeydew sheet set; they’re smooth and breathable. But they’re expensive at $260 for a queen. I don’t think the price is unreasonable; it might be more than some people want to spend.

Our take:You don’t have to spend a lot to get a luxury feel in your home. The Coop Home Goods Comphy SoftSpa sheets are in 97% of Forbes 5-star rated resorts and spas, which makes the price point even more impressive.
How it sleeps: When you think of luxury sheets, you probably expect a high price tag. I can’t blame you; most of the time, that holds true for sleep products. The Coop SoftSpa sheet set surprised me with how luxurious it was since it only costs $179 for a set. Yes, it’s not the cheapest set out there, but I was very happy with the price based on the quality.
Coop’s Softspa sheets are double brushed finished, so I expected them to be soft. I was immediately struck by the beautifully silky feel when I crawled into bed. These sheets are incredibly comfortable. They also feature a proprietary fiber that’s supposed to keep them from wrinkling. So far, I haven’t noticed any notable wrinkling from these sheets. I also like that these sheets have a 100-night trial period, 1-year warranty and free returns. Other brands offer a significantly shorter trial period if they offer one at all.
If you’re not into a silky feel, I also tested the Coop percale sheet set, and they were crisp and comfortable, which is exactly what I want from a cotton weave sheet.

How it sleeps: If you want your bed to feel like luxury every time you climb, you’ll like the Ettitude Air CleanBamboo Sateen+ Sheets. They are the type of sheet that looks good and feels even better. They’re silky smooth against the skin and don’t trap heat. It’s made from 90% CleanBaboo Lyocella and 10% bamboo Biochar.
These sheets are seriously comfortable. I also enjoyed how bold the color options were. Most brands do a few bold colors, but the rest are soft pastels or neutrals. Ettitude has bold, rich colors like brassy (which I chose), deep green, red and more.
I can’t talk about the Airy CleanBamboo sheets without mentioning the price. These sheets exude luxury, so you’ll have to pay a pretty penny for them: $499 for a queen set. That’s much higher than most people want to spend on a set of sheets, although if you can afford it and you really like sateen sheets, I think these are some of the best you can buy.

At only $17 for a queen set, I wouldn’t say the feel will match the most luxurious sheets out there. But they’re soft and dependable sheets. The Amazon Basics Microfiber sheet set is a basic sheet set available in many colors and prints.
They’re made of polyester, making them a good everyday sheet for most people. I could also see them being a great option for college kids, people with pets or guest beds. They might not last as long as other options, but you can’t beat the price of these sheets. It drops to only $13 if you shop for a twin bed.

There are a ton of sheets out there. This means it can be overwhelming to know where to start when you’re looking to invest in a new set. These are the top factors I recommend keeping in mind when shopping.
Material
What your sheets are made out of will determine everything from how it feels to how well it wicks heat away from the body.
Percale: Percale is one of the most popular sheet materials because it’s soft and lightweight. These sheets are most commonly made from cotton, though they can be polyester, rayon or other synthetic fabrics.
Flannel: Most people favor flannel sheets when it’s cold outside because they are medium- to heavy-weight fabric. Unlike other sheets, flannel isn’t measured by thread count but by weight per square meter.
Microfiber: Microfiber is another popular fabric for sheets. The tight polyester weave makes it more durable than other options like satin. Microfiber is also more affordable, though you shouldn’t expect it to last forever.
Satin: For those who want ultimate luxury, satin sheets are silky and smooth. Satin sheets aren’t as durable as other sheet fabrics, so they don’t hold up as long as other types.
Sateen: Sateen fabric has vertical threads and a soft feel. That makes it typically more fragile than dense woven fabrics.

If there is anything I’ve learned while testing sheets, it’s that the price doesn’t automatically mean the sheets will feel any different than more affordable ones. Yes, higher-quality materials like bamboo or percale will cost more. In contrast, other materials like polyester or microfiber will be more budget-friendly, but price isn’t the only thing determining the sheets’ quality. That’s why I always recommend reading the reviews before you buy.
Thread count
Another important factor to consider is thread count, which describes the amount of threads per square inch of the sheet. Higher thread counts generally mean it will feel smoother. Thread count isn’t the end-all-be-all for your purchasing decision. You don’t have to aim for the highest thread count to have soft sheets.
